With collaboration of local partners Helping Hand has established four Skills Development Institutes at various areas affected by the earthquake. Main objectives to establish these institutes are:

  • To reconstruct an income generation infrastructure for the affected families in region
  • To teach a skill set that will help the poor to earn money.
  • To eradicate the poverty from the local community.
  • To provide skilled labor for the economic growth of the country.
  • To provide education for a better future and long lasting impact on the state of the region.

Our institutes offer a wide variety of courses aimed towards the people living in the area. Currently we are providing 4 courses but in due time Helping Hand will introduce more courses for the benefit fo the community. The courses’ duration will be one year. After a few years we will start diploma courses with three years duration. The following courses have been introduced initially:

  • Computer courses
  • Mobile phone repairing and services
  • Electrical

The main aim behind the sponsorship of vocational centers is to provide an appropriate education in an atmosphere, which fosters lifelong benefit, and high expectation of achievement for vitims affected by the earthquke. The objective is to help earthquake affected widows and less advantaged women establish their life and become self-sufficient. For this purpose Helping Hand USA established 8 Vocational Training Centers (VTCs) in earthquake affected areas. Over 400 women are enrolled in these centers. Most of the trainees started earning bread and butter for their families.
We also kept some of the products produced by these centers in ICNA convention this year for exhibition and selling these products to support earthquake survivors.
